With the current worldwide economic crisis affecting us all, it’s easy to feel depressed about it and a lot of people will worry until they’re ill, but it does not have to be like that. It is much better to stay positive and consider what action you will take to ensure you stay financially secure. Try to see this as an opportunity to change your future for the better; if times had not become harder, you might have just kept plodding along and might always have struggled to make ends meet.

If you’re still reading, then I already know your an optimist and have a really positive outlook on life, and it will reward you in time.

In my opinion, there has never been better time to start your own on line business, either to earn a few extra bucks or to turn it into a new full time, financially rewarding career and it really does not have to be as intimidating as it sounds.

For over a decade, ordinary people all over the world have been selling their unwanted items on internet auction site eBay and have soon discovered it can easily become a full time source of income.

ebay has made its fair share of millionaires since its launch, and the great news is that its popularity shows no sign of waning. At the time of writing, it had well over 19 million registered users and that number grows daily. $86 million dollars worth of merchandise is sold on eBay every day so the opportunities to make cash on there are almost limitless!

It is also so rewarding because you work for yourself and every dollar you make was earned through your creativity and hard work. The joyful thing is that you get to benefit from the profits and they don’t go straight into your employer’s bank account. (so that they can buy a new car while you just scrape by!)

To set up most businesses, you would need oodles of cash, the necessary knowledge and plenty of time to make it a success. Most ordinary people work full time or have family commitments and just don’t have the capital needed or the time to organise the logistics of setting up a business, but with a bit of grit and determination, you can have a successful eBay business up and running within a few months.

Here are some of the advantages of starting an eBay business:-

1. The start-up costs are very low with the only set up costs being your eBay fees. These can be paid from the cash you make through sales on eBay.

2. You don’t need business premises; you can run your business from your own home.

3. You can start it up in your spare time and grow your business as slowly as your schedule allows, or as quickly as your ambitions drive you to - either way it’s a very low risk as you initially invest very little financially.

4. With the right guidance anyone can do it regardless of their age, educational qualifications or any other perceived disadvantage - OK, it can be intimidating at first (as learning anything new can be) however, it is relatively easy to set things up and very soon you will be making money on eBay

5. eBay does all the hard work advertising your items and driving traffic to your listing - all you need to do is provide good quality products, list them well, then provide good customer service.

Here’s summary of the simple steps you need to take to get started:-

1. Register an eBay account - the main thing to consider here is that your username is something memorable so customers keep coming back, and if you have a particular product in mind, make sure it’s relevant to that product.

2. Register with PayPal so that you’re able to accept instant secure card payments.

3. Source your products. To start with this can be your old unwanted items, but make sure they’re good quality. You don’t want to get a reputation of selling tat when you’re trying to become a respected seller.

4. Take a photo of your item with a digital camera or cell phone camera. As the old saying goes, “a picture paints a thousand words,” so make sure it’s a good quality image.

5. Research similar items on eBay to see what they sell for and to get an idea of how your competitors market their items.

6. Create a listing on eBay that includes your item picture, a detailed, honest description and your terms and conditions, and then submit it.

7. Ensure you check the progress of your auction regularly and answer any questions in a polite and timely manner.

8. Once your item has sold and the funds have cleared in your account, email the buyer to thank them for their business and assure them the item will be shipped straight away.

9. Leave positive feedback for your customer and if they are happy with their purchase and your customer service, they should do the same for you!

That’s it; you’re now an eBay seller. Now rinse and repeat! Ok, so that’s a simplified version of the process, but I guarantee, it’s not difficult to get started and you could be earning some extra cash within just a few short days.

I hope I’ve given you some food for thought and that you stay optimistic about your financial future. I know from personal experience eBay success is easily attainable for anyone, regardless of their background or current skill level. You just need to work at it and soak up all the advice you can along the way. You will probably make a lot of mistakes when you first get started, but that’s ok as long as you learn from them and develop.

Remember, the only person who can change your situation for the better is you so if you’re worried about money and how the credit crunch will affect you, start taking action today… With Christmas on the horizon, there could not be a better time to start cashing in on eBay!
